” Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Chapter 6 – Remarkable Incident of Dr. Lanyon
Although there is a large reward out for Hyde and many details of his life are uncovered, the police have no clue as to his whereabouts. As more time passes, Mr. Utterson is relieved that Hyde seems to be gone. Dr. Jekyll begins to act like his former self–entertaining guests, getting involved in charities and religion, being generally at peace. For close to two months, Mr. Utterson spends a great deal of time with Dr. Jekyll and his recently reconciled friend, Dr. Lanyon. But one day, Mr. Utterson is suddenly turned away; Dr. Jekyll is not seeing visitors. After repeated attempts, Mr. Utterson goes to visit Dr. Lanyon and is surprised to find him in a deathly state. At first, Mr. Utterson thinks that his friend, being a doctor, is self-aware that his days are limited. But Dr. Lanyon speaks of being in shock about some matter he cannot recover from. Mr. Utterson mentions that Dr. Jekyll is also ill. Dr. Lanyon turns sour and refuses to speak about Dr. Jekyll. Dr. Lanyon is not surprised when told that Dr. Jekyll has refused to meet. He says:

“Some day, Utterson, after I am dead, you may perhaps come to learn the right and wrong of this. I cannot tell you.” Chapter 6, pg. 73

Mr. Utterson writes a note to Dr. Jekyll, asking why he is being turned away, and about his sudden break with Dr. Lanyon. Dr. Jekyll replies that from now on, he will live a life of seclusion. He writes back cryptically, “If I am the chief of sinners, I am the chief of sufferers also” (pg. 74). Mr. Utterson cannot understand how things have changed so suddenly. Without the presence of Hyde, Dr. Jekyll seemed to have recovered nicely. Now, life-long relationships are broken. Taking cue from what Dr. Lanyon said, Mr. Utterson is convinced there is some underlying reason for this.

A week later, Dr. Lanyon passes away. After the funeral, Mr. Utterson locks himself in his office and takes out an envelope prepared by his deceased friend. It reads, “Private: for the hands of G.J. Utterson ALONE, and in case of his predecease to be destroyed unread.” In it is another letter with the words: “not to be opened till the death or disappearance of Dr. Henry Jekyll.” Mr. Utterson quickly notices the words “disappearance,” just like the will. Although he desires to get to the bottom of this mystery, professional honor prompts Mr. Utterson to put the letter back into his safe. Meanwhile, Mr. Utterson gets periodic reports from Poole regarding Dr. Jekyll’s condition. Poole confesses that Dr. Jekyll is constantly confined to the laboratory and is often out of spirits. Because of the consistency of the reports, Mr. Utterson visits less frequently.”

dr jekyll and mr hyde

in the first event a man is brutally beating another person on the street in which the maid sees this and is very scared and faints. The weapon lying with the man in the floor. ” the murderer was gone long ago, but there lay his victim in the middle of the lane, incredibly mangles “.

Next Mr Utterson goes to identify the body as Denver carew. They then question the maid and ask what Mr Hyde looks like. ” patricularly small and particularly wicked looking “. Mr Utterson and the maid go into Me Hydes house and search.

I think that the key point within this chapter was the maid seeing the mans death. This is because it led up to a key event in which Mr Utterson goes to Mr Hydes house to search it for more clues. I also think that this could lead onto something much bigger than just finding out the killer but also finding out the truth about Mr Hyde

Reply from Mr Fields !

mr fields

Dear Mr Fields your video has shocked myself and pupils in my school too.The attack was on a young girl and was not acceptable in school or anywhere. To think boys in london say, ‘ i want to move to America’ when things like this happen. The fact you think you were right is appalling and to charge a girl for your actions.

Imagine you had a daughter and she was assaulted by a police officer who was a male. im what way does violence help within a school. It gives the students a reason to fight, especially when an officer of the law decides to do it. Please enlighten me on why you thought this was right. The fact this had to be recorded to get any attention is shocking. This should not happen at all.

As a black male I have seen many people hurt or even killed for being coloured, which to me is very shocking. The fact a man wanted a cigarette and was shocked out by a officer, the fact a boy said ‘my hands are up don’t shoot’ and he shot anyways, shows how officers really feel about coloured people. I am not racist, yet these things continue to occur in life everyday, with other cultures and races too.

I have never seen a person be so harmed by a officer for simply not wanting to get up. Yes, she may have hit you first however, you’re a big man and it should not hurt if she hit you. You’re trained to deal with situations like this and could have, in fact should have dealt with the situation properly instead. Now you have all this drama and have been fired, so the fact you may have felt disrespected has cost you your job and worldwide hatred by people of every race.

I have never been handled like that by my mum or dad let alone a teacher or a police officer. You could have badly hurt this girl. Being a police officer you should understand that you will get disrespected all the time and that you cannot deal with silly situations such as this with such force. Next time it could be a man who wants to fight or has a weapon, and people will not care, as you were classed as a racist officer in the eyes of the people who saw the video. You should know it was a plot to act up. Many officers have fell for this and have ended up out of job. To think a officer put his gun into a mans hand who he had just tasered, to make it seem as if he had a weapon. This was caught on film and now you along with other officers are the most hated in USA and UK. Well done Mr Fields, what you have done has just blasted another revolution to show the harshness of racism towards black people in and out of places you should feel safe in.

I hope you realise your ‘right’ was a wrong.

yours sincerely, Xavi.
